Addendum: Stairs

Stairs, you relentless, jagged foes,
In winding rows you cruelly pose,
A path so steep, a twisted plight,
Each step a battle, day and night.

With weary limbs, I face your climb,
A mountain made of stone and time,
You mock my breath, my aching knees,
You steal my ease with cold, cruel tease.
